When I was interviewed for the Overeducated & Underemployed podcast, Feddun asked me which edition of Mundane Mayhem was my favorite. Because “I dunno” is a bad interview answer, my mind went to A Loaded Shotgun in the Closet, where I wrote about my great-grandfather’s suicide and the songs “Do It Yourself” and “When the Pin Hits the Shell.” Pretty much everybody knows someone who has died by suicide or from an analog like addiction. As Feddun said, “Some people do it quickly, some people do it slowly.”

We Will Never Wake You Up in the Morning” is about someone who did it slowly.
